Q&A

  1. Why did charter prices increase in 2026 compared with 2025, and what should charter operators consider when planning for the 2027 season?
BMA: Several factors contributed to the increase in average charter prices. One of the main factors is the growth of the luxury and semi-luxury crewed segment, particularly Yachts around or above 20 metres, which is driving average prices upward. It is also important to note that the 2026 figures mainly reflect peak-season bookings, as the data was collected at the end of August and does not yet include post-season bookings. Once the full-year data is available, the final average price for 2026 may therefore be slightly lower.
  2. Is commission calculated after agent discounts, and do the discount figures include both operator and agency discounts?
BMA: Yes. The discount figures include discounts provided by both charter operators and agencies. Commission is calculated on the final booking amount after all applicable discounts have been applied.
  3. What do the average discount percentages represent?
BMA: They represent the average discount applied to rental prices across all confirmed booked weeks and include all discounts processed through Booking Manager.
  4. What booking and pricing insights are available directly in Booking Manager?
BMA: Revenue Planning provides insights into booking activity and average boat prices in the surrounding area. Broader market insights are available through Booking Manager data webinars, and the Market Report.
  5. Will non-Saturday charter statistics be available by country and embarkation month?
BMA: Yes. Booking Manager will look into providing a more detailed breakdown of non-Saturday charter statistics by country and embarkation month.
  6. Which charter types are included in the statistics, and which yacht models or types are most commonly booked outside the standard Saturday-to-Saturday charters?
BMA: The statistics include bareboat, skippered and crewed charters. Based on current market observations, non-Saturday bookings generally involve the same regular fleet used for Saturday departures, with no specific yacht model or type standing out. A more detailed analysis would be required to confirm this.
  7. How does Booking Manager support charters with non-Saturday check-in dates?
BMA: Booking Manager allows agencies to book any check-in date made available by the charter operator, without additional restrictions from the system. In Yacht Search, the flexible-date option also displays the closest available dates, such as Friday, Sunday or Monday.
  8. How can the right customer segments be identified when offering alternative check-in days?
BMA: Booking Manager data, including the main guest’s country of origin and crew-list information, can be exported to Excel for fleet-specific analysis. Charter operators can also consult their leading agency partners to identify the most common requests and preferred check-in days for their destination.
  9. Who can create and book Special Trips, and are they being booked successfully?
BMA: Charter operators create Special Trips, while agencies and brokers can search and book available offers. Early data and client feedback indicate that the feature is successfully supporting demand for non-standard charters. As Special Trips have been available for less than a year, more data is needed to assess their long-term performance.
  10. What market insights are available for the emerging river charter segment?
BMA: Booking Manager has data on river charters, an emerging niche with growing market potential. More detailed insights will be shared in an upcoming blog post.
  11. What is the current demand for 70+ luxury Catamarans in Booking Manager?
BMA: The analysis focused on Yachts around or above 20 metres. Within this category, Booking Manager is seeing demand for 70+ luxury Catamarans, with more Yachts from this segment joining the System. This indicates growing interest in the high-end charter market and highlights the potential of this emerging niche.
  12. Is the increase in Croatian charter prices driven by Motorboats, or does it also apply to Sailing Yachts?
BMA: The presented statistics combine all boat types, so they do not show whether the price increase is specifically driven by Motorboats or Sailing Yachts. Croatia’s charter fleet includes both Motorboats and Sailing Yachts. A more detailed breakdown by boat type is available through the Market Report.
